Why replace the factory arms
Raising the front of a truck changes the angle the factory upper arm works at, which limits how far the wheel can drop and can make it hard to get the alignment back in spec. Aftermarket upper arms correct that angle, and heavier-duty arms hold up better to off-road use.
Choosing control arms
- Ball joint or uniball. A ball joint is quieter and needs less attention. A uniball allows more articulation and suits trucks driven hard off road.
- Material. Steel tube arms are the lower-cost option. Billet aluminum arms are machined from solid stock and sit at the top of the range.
